The Houston Texans have added $1 million to the maximum 2026 playtime incentives in Trent Brown’s contract. Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti reported the revised terms Sept. 16 in a post on X, showing that the ceiling rose from $1.5 million to $2.5 million.
Brown can earn $500,000 at each of five playing-time marks: 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70%. Over The Cap’s Troy Chapman previously reported that the change did not alter Brown’s salary-cap charge or initial cash flow, because the new incentives were added to the original package.
Houston re-signed Brown during the 2026 offseason to a one-year, $5.5 million contract. He started seven regular-season contests and one playoff game for the Texans in 2025, while injuries affected both the start and finish of his season.
The team also brought in Braden Smith on a two-year, $20 million deal, but injuries sent Smith to injured reserve and kept him from taking the starting position.
Brown stayed with Houston through the offseason program and opened Week 1 at right tackle. His last season starting every regular-season game was 2022 with the New England Patriots. He won a Super Bowl with New England in 2018, when Texans general manager Nick Caserio was an executive there.
