A Commanding First Half Sets the Tone
The Texas Longhorns established control early and never looked back, securing a decisive 31-3 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. Arch Manning orchestrated the offense with surgical precision, connecting on three touchdown passes to lead the home team to a dominant performance in front of 103,586 fans.
Texas opened the scoring in the first quarter when Manning found Cam Coleman on a 14-yard pass. Gianni Spetic’s kick extended the lead to 7-0. The Longhorns added to their advantage early in the second quarter with a 45-yard field goal by Spetic, making the score 10-0 before Mississippi State could reach the end zone.
The defensive line then provided the decisive blow that effectively ended any hope of a comeback. Maraad Watson returned a fumble 61 yards for a touchdown, and Spetic’s extra point pushed the margin to 17-0 at halftime. The Bulldogs’ only points of the day would come later in the third quarter.
Mississippi State Struggles Offensively
Mississippi State managed to get on the board in the third quarter when Kyle Ferrie kicked a 30-yard field goal, bringing the score to 17-3. However, the Bulldogs’ offense was largely stifled by Texas’s disciplined defense throughout the contest.
Arch Manning continued his efficient play in the second half, throwing a 4-yard touchdown pass to Raleek Brown to extend the lead to 24-3. In the fourth quarter, Manning capped his outstanding performance with a 42-yard strike to Emmett Mosley V, finalizing the score at 31-3.
