Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to sit out the team’s matchup with Louisiana Tech, while a report from On3 Sports indicates he is progressing toward a possible return against Colorado on Sept. 26. Pete Nakos reported the development, but the report did not establish that Lagway will play against the Buffaloes, coached by Deion Sanders.
Lagway was injured during Baylor’s 17-16 season-opening defeat to Auburn. Sources previously told On3 Sports that the junior had a high-ankle sprain. Earlier in the week, Baylor coach Dave Aranda characterized Lagway’s status as day-to-day.
Baylor used no Lagway in its following game, a 44-3 win over Prairie View. The Bears will play Louisiana Tech before beginning Big 12 competition against Colorado. ClutchPoints reported that the quarterback’s return schedule remains unclear, apart from the indication that he is making progress toward the Colorado matchup.
