A Dominant Performance

The Washington Nationals dismantled the Texas Rangers on Thursday, August 20, at Globe Life Field, winning 6-0 in front of a crowd of 23,963. The game’s defining moment came from the mound, where Cade Cavalli delivered a masterclass. He retired 11 batters on strikes over six innings, allowing only three hits and walking one.

His dominance set the tone for an offensive display that proved too much for Arlington to handle.

Scoring Sequence

The Nationals broke through first in the third inning when Tena homered to center field, a 415-foot shot that put Washington ahead 1-0. The lead expanded in the fourth when Ruiz singled to right, allowing Chaparro to score. In the sixth, Vivas grounded out to the pitcher, but the play was enough to drive in Chaparro, extending the margin to 3-0.

The decisive blow landed in the seventh inning. Chaparro connected with a 397-foot home run to left field. That blast scored Ortiz and Tena, adding three more runs to the total and making it 6-0. With the lead secured, the Rangers were unable to produce a single run for the remainder of the contest.

Pitching and Records

Cavalli earned the win, improving his record to 11-5. He was followed by Will Dion, who pitched one hitless inning, and Max Kranick, who allowed one hit in one inning. Jake Bird closed the game with one inning of work, striking out one batter.

For the Rangers, Kumar Rocker took the loss, dropping his record to 4-10. He pitched five innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out three. Cole Winn followed with one inning of work, allowing two hits and one earned run.

Peyton Gray pitched one inning, allowing one hit, three earned runs, and two walks. Jordan Montgomery finished the game, pitching two innings and allowing one hit while striking out two.

The result leaves the Rangers with a 62-65 record and the Nationals at 61-67.
