Caden Powell, a former Baylor basketball player from Waco, is returning to the team for the 2026-27 season following a recent court injunction in Ohio. Powell, who has played for Wyoming and Rice, joined Baylor last season and transitioned from a backup center to a starter due to team injuries.
Baylor's roster this year is evolving under head coach Scott Drew, who aims to create a deeper team capable of competing throughout the season. Powell's return adds significant depth to the Bears' lineup, although he is not expected to start immediately. His defensive skills and ability as a lob threat are anticipated to enhance the team's performance off the bench.
The projected depth chart features Kayden Mingo and Dylan Mingo as the starting guards, with Isaac Celiscar and Evan Chatman as the starting wings. Juslin Bodo Bodo is expected to start at center, with Powell providing support in the rotation.
Powell's experience will be vital for the relatively young team, where he joins only a few seniors, including Chatman and Bodo Bodo, as they prepare for the season ahead.
