Baylor is taking a cautious approach with quarterback DJ Lagway as he recovers from an ankle injury, though an On3 report says he is expected to be ready for the Bears' Sept. 26 game against Colorado. Baylor coach Dave Aranda said Lagway felt good during a Sunday practice, and the quarterback was expected to work with the team during the week.

He is considered doubtful for Saturday's game against Louisiana Tech.

Lagway was hurt during Baylor's 17-16 season-opening loss to Auburn but remained in the game. He finished with 333 passing yards, two touchdown passes and one interception, and a wrap was visible on his ankle afterward. The injury kept him out of Baylor's next game, a 44-3 win over Prairie View A&M.

Nate Bennett started that game and completed 24 of 36 attempts for 314 yards. He threw three touchdown passes and added a rushing score, potentially setting up a second consecutive start against Louisiana Tech. Colorado is scheduled to play Northwestern before traveling to Baylor for the 10 a.m. MT matchup, which could feature Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis if Lagway returns.
