Trevon Diggs, known for his previous role as an All-Pro cornerback with the Dallas Cowboys, has joined the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This signing is the Seahawks' second addition of a cornerback this week, following the acquisition of Terrion Arnold, who is currently facing significant legal challenges in Florida.
At 27 years old, Diggs boasts a career record of 20 interceptions and 63 passes defended. He is anticipated to compete for a spot in the Seahawks' secondary, which is currently managing several injuries.
Previously, Diggs had signed a five-year contract extension worth $97 million with the Cowboys in July 2023, but he participated in only 22 of 51 regular-season games over the subsequent three seasons. His tenure with the Cowboys concluded after a series of incidents, including an unusual home accident involving a television.
The Cowboys waived Diggs after he requested to stay in the Washington, D.C. area with his family following a Christmas Day game, a request that was not granted by the team. Shortly after his release from Dallas, he was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers. Details regarding Diggs' future role with the Seahawks remain undisclosed.
