McKinney is set to welcome LITEON Technology, a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer, which will establish a new AI power and infrastructure manufacturing facility. This project, announced by Governor Greg Abbott, is projected to bring in nearly $919 million in investments and create over 600 jobs throughout its duration. The facility will serve as LITEON's North American headquarters, covering more than 650,000 square feet.
The initial phase of the project involves a capital investment of $307 million and is expected to generate about 500 jobs. The state has supported the initiative with a $3.5 million grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund and a $100,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus. LITEON Chairman Tom Soong expressed confidence in McKinney as a community aligned with their values of innovation and hard work.
Founded in 1975, LITEON has evolved from its roots in LED technology to focus on power systems essential for AI data centers. The company's revenue from AI-related business has significantly increased, projecting a rise to 40 percent this year.
The McKinney facility will be strategically located in North Texas, which has the highest number of planned data centers in the state, allowing for efficient local production of necessary power systems. This investment marks one of the largest corporate commitments in McKinney's history, further enhancing the city's growth in advanced manufacturing.
McKinney is about 39 miles south of Denison.
