Nico Collins will miss the Houston Texans’ Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Collins, a two-time Pro Bowl receiver, is dealing with a Grade 1 hamstring injury, KPRC 2 reporter Aaron Wilson reported, citing a league source. Collins could also miss Houston’s next game against the Indianapolis Colts, although the situation can still change.

Houston’s move to bring up rookie wide receiver Lewis Bond is the team’s second standard practice-squad elevation for the game. Veteran safety and special-teams player George Odum received the other elevation. The Texans are expected to use Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jared Wayne and Jaylin Noel ahead of Bond at receiver, and his role against Cincinnati has not been specified.

Houston drafted Bond in the sixth round in 2026, using the 204th selection. The team released him during its reduction to a 53-player roster before putting him on the practice squad. He has two more practice-squad call-ups available before the Texans must place him on the 53-man roster or select another player.

Before the draft, NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein praised Bond’s dependable hands and contested-catch ability, while citing concerns about his separation against press and man coverage. Zierlein said formations using motion or bunches might create opportunities for him.
