The National Football Foundation announced Sept. 23 that Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu is a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy. The award recognizes a scholarship athlete for academic performance, play on the field and leadership. No additional details about Kanu’s selection were provided by the source.
Texas has had two Campbell Trophy winners. Center Dallas Griffin received the honor in 2007, and defensive end Sam Acho won it in 2010.
