Dallas Cowboys safety P.J. Locke was injured during Washington’s opening possession, leaving the team without another defensive player in its home opener against the Commanders. The injury came in Locke’s second game with Dallas.
Video from FOX showed Locke heading toward a tackle and then beginning to limp before contact with another player. Training staff assisted him off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said he later reached the locker room without assistance.
Malik Hooker had been ruled out before the game because of a forearm injury. Dallas signed Locke to a one-year contract worth $4 million during the offseason, following six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos. Locke made two tackles in the Cowboys’ loss to the New York Giants in the season opener.
