Dominant Start Sets Tone
The Texas Tech Red Raiders established control early at United Supermarkets Arena, jumping out to a significant lead that Jackson State could never threaten. The visitors opened the scoring with a three-pointer from Dorian McMillian, but the home team quickly answered. By the midpoint of the first quarter, Texas Tech had taken a 10-6 advantage on Mike Williams’ jumper.
The Red Raiders continued to apply pressure, extending their lead through efficient offense and timely free throws. Key contributions came from Cruz Davis, who facilitated the attack with five assists, and Josiah Moseley, who secured eight rebounds for the squad. The half concluded with Texas Tech firmly in command, setting the stage for a decisive second half.
Second Half Consolidation
Texas Tech maintained its intensity after the break, outscoring Jackson State 38-24 in the final period. Damarion Dennis was the primary catalyst for the offense, draining multiple three-pointers and finishing with a game-high 22 points. His performance included several crucial baskets that widened the gap, including a pivotal layup and a dunk assisted by Cruz Davis.
Jackson State struggled to keep pace offensively. Mike Williams led the Tigers with 11 points, while Nikk Williams controlled the glass with nine rebounds. Daeshun Ruffin added three assists for Jackson State, but the team could not generate enough consistent scoring to challenge Texas Tech’s defensive pressure or offensive rhythm.
