Grayson College has announced the expansion of its Agricultural Sciences program with a new workforce-focused pathway designed for nontraditional students, working adults, and those interested in agricultural entrepreneurship. The initiative begins in Fall 2026.
The college will continue to offer its Associate of Science in Agricultural Sciences, a 60-credit-hour degree intended for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution. This pathway includes an articulation agreement with East Texas A&M University to facilitate the transition into a bachelor’s program.
The newly introduced Associate of Applied Science in Agribusiness Management focuses on practical training and flexible coursework. The 60-credit-hour degree is primarily online and incorporates hands-on practicum and workplace experience. Students can customize their studies through focus areas including Plant and Pest Management, Viticulture and Enology, Livestock Production, Equine Studies, and Agribusiness. Additional areas such as agricultural mechanics are planned for the future.
The program also features stackable certificates that allow students to enter the workforce quickly or progress toward advanced credentials. The Occupational Skills Award in Small-Scale Agriculture is a 16-credit-hour program completable in one to two semesters with no core classes or TSI requirements. It provides foundational knowledge in plants, animals, and agribusiness.
The Level 1 Agribusiness Certificate is a 30-credit-hour fully online program that prepares students for careers in farm and ranch supply, agricultural services, and government agencies. It also has no core class or TSI requirements.
The Level 1 Agricultural Entrepreneurship Certificate is a 30-credit-hour hybrid program designed for individuals looking to start or expand agricultural operations. It emphasizes small farm management and business practices.
