Denison, Texas — State legal authorities concluded a $7.5 million financial resolution with Tris Pharmaceuticals, resolving allegations that the drugmaker defrauded the Texas Medicaid program by misrepresenting how quickly and effectively an attention-deficit medication worked for children.

The agreement concludes litigation initiated by state prosecutors in 2023 against the pharmaceutical manufacturer and corporate executive Ketan Mehta. State investigators alleged that the company orchestrated a deceptive promotional campaign concerning Dyanavel XR, an attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder medication marketed for pediatric patients.

According to state enforcement filings, company sales representatives conducted thousands of promotional presentations to medical practitioners, including healthcare professionals enrolled in the state Medicaid network. Regulators asserted that sales representatives made unverified representations claiming the medication took effect far more rapidly than alternative therapies while providing additional clinical advantages that lacked scientific substantiation.

Under the terms of the finalized agreement, the pharmaceutical manufacturer agreed to transfer $7.5 million to the state treasury to resolve the statutory claims, ending the enforcement action without further trial proceedings.

In Denison and across northern Grayson County near Lake Texoma, the financial settlement reflects statewide accountability measures governing prescription drug marketing and Medicaid patient protections.
