The hometown party Denison threw for Jadarian Price's NFL debut has turned into a $2,010 gift for the United Way of Grayson County.
KTEN reported Sunday that the city teamed with Price on a raffle of autographed Price gear at the September event, which brought in a little more than $1,000. Food producer Ruiz Foods then matched the raffle money, for a total of $2,010.
The city held the free watch party on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the George Tavern. When the event was announced, Denison Chief PIO Emily Agans told KXII that raffles and giveaways would benefit the local United Way, a cause she said Price "was very passionate about." Giveaways that night included a football and a helmet signed by Price, KXII reported.
From Munson Stadium to Seattle
A 2022 Denison High School graduate, Price went on to Notre Dame and reached the college football title game with the Fighting Irish. Seattle, the reigning Super Bowl champion, took him with the 32nd pick in this year's draft.
He did not wait long to be noticed in his debut. On the season's opening snap across the league, Price picked up 13 yards to move the chains, then finished with 52 yards on 10 carries, the most rushing yards by any player in the game, along with two catches for six yards. Seattle beat New England 13-10 in a Super Bowl rematch.
