Grayson College's trustees are scheduled to set what students will pay in the 2027-28 school year when they meet Monday, Oct. 19, on the college's main campus in Denison, and the same agenda adds two economic development items: new tax abatement guidelines and a discussion of a foreign trade zone.
The board's regular meeting starts at 3:45 p.m. at the college, 6101 Grayson Drive. It follows a board retreat that begins at 1:45 p.m. in the same place, according to agendas posted on BoardBook. The college's website says the board normally meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
Prices for 2027-28
Six pricing items sit on the consent agenda, which trustees can approve in a single vote unless a member asks to pull one out for discussion:
- tuition and mandatory fees
- the student services fee
- instructional course and lab fees
- dual credit charges, scholarships and waivers
- charges for the Victor E. Bundle, the college's course materials program
- room and board
The posted agendas do not include the proposed rates or any attachments. Trustees are set to talk through each of the same items during the afternoon retreat before the vote.
For comparison, the rates the college lists on its website for 2025-26 are $50 per credit hour in tuition for students who live in the college district, $100 for those from elsewhere in Texas and $160 for nonresidents, plus $50 per credit hour in fees for everyone.
Abatements and a trade zone
Under regular business, the board will consider tax abatement guidelines, presented by President Jeremy McMillen, and hold a discussion of a foreign trade zone. Neither item has supporting documents posted. In a closed session afterward, trustees plan to deliberate an economic development incentive for a prospect the agenda calls Project Silver, along with the president's evaluation, a board self-evaluation and a state cybersecurity framework assessment.
