Grayson College has a new head of recruiting and admissions, and he is no newcomer to the Denison campus.

The college announced Wednesday that Jayce Randolph is its new Director of Recruiting and Admissions. He will oversee how the college finds and signs up new students, works with area schools and community partners, and lays out a route for people starting classes there.

Seven years, several jobs

Randolph has worked at Grayson College for seven years, according to the announcement. He started as a housing supervisor overseeing resident assistants, then moved into recruiting, visiting area high schools and working with counselors and teachers.

He later became a Success Coach, advising and enrolling students, running degree audits and serving as the college's transfer advisor. He also put in time as interim assistant director of admissions and recruiting, a stretch in which the college says he set up its process for granting Credit for Prior Learning and helped run recruiting events such as Senior Day and One-and-Done.

Most recently he was the Adult Promise Coordinator. In that role he managed the college's $250,000 Trellis Adult Promise grant and built enrollment and workforce partnerships aimed at adult students with partners including Texoma Medical Center and local school districts, the college said.

What the college expects

Logan Maxwell, vice president of student services, said admissions work goes beyond helping someone finish an application. "They are about creating a welcoming first experience and helping students see a path toward their goals," Maxwell said in the announcement, adding that Randolph has shown a commitment to "removing barriers."

Randolph holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Texas State University and is working on a master's in higher education administration at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
