Children in costume can collect candy at some of Grayson County's oldest homes late Saturday afternoon.
Frontier Village & Museum is holding Fall on the Frontier, which it bills as an old-fashioned Halloween carnival, from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. The museum is at 111 R.C. Vaughan Road in Denison, beside Loy Lake.
What to expect
According to the museum's event page, trick-or-treating will take place at the cabins and houses across the historic village. There will also be carnival games with prizes, re-enactors on the grounds, and a concession stand selling food and drinks.
Admission is $3 per person and comes with 10 carnival game tickets. Families who want to keep playing can buy more tickets at $3 for 10 or $5 for 20.
The museum bills the carnival as a family event and encourages visitors to come in costume.
About the village
The grounds hold 11 of the oldest homes and cabins in Grayson County, dating back to the 1840s, the museum says. Among them is the Holder Cabin/Coldsprings Schoolhouse, which the museum calls the oldest one-room schoolhouse still standing in Texas, and the Thompson House, which it describes as one of the first homes in the county.
