Blacksmiths at the forge, butter churned by hand and the boom of a cannon are on the schedule at Frontier Village & Museum this Saturday, when the museum holds the next of its fall Living History Days.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the museum, 111 R.C. Vaughan Road in Denison. General admission is $8. A final fall date follows on Saturday, Nov. 7, with the same hours.
What visitors will see
According to the museum's announcement, re-enactors and craftspeople will be spread across the historic grounds, and interpreters will be on hand in the village buildings to talk with visitors about how early settlers worked and spent their free time. Planned activities include:
- Blacksmithing demonstrations
- Old-fashioned butter making
- Artisan demonstrations
- Old West gunfight performances
- Live music and firing of the village cannon
The museum says the lineup changes from one date to the next, so people who come in October may see different demonstrations in November. It pitches the days to families, students and history buffs.
