The two-story frame house where Dwight D. Eisenhower was born will host a birthday party for the former president next Saturday.
Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site, 609 S. Lamar Ave., is holding its Eisenhower Birthday Celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10, according to the Texas Historical Commission, which operates the site. The commission's event listing promises music, booths from community partners and birthday cake for the 136th anniversary of Eisenhower's birth.
Eisenhower was born in Denison on Oct. 14, 1890, while his father worked for the railroad. The family moved to Abilene, Kansas, when he was a toddler, but Denison has long claimed him: he went on to command Allied forces in Europe during World War II and served two terms as the 34th president.
The City of Denison's Main Street program also lists the celebration among its downtown events for Oct. 10. Its page for the event still carries last year's schedule, which included a 9 a.m. brick dedication at the Eisenhower monument at U.S. 75 and North Loy Lake Road, limited free hourly tours of the birthplace, crafts, and a performance by the Scott Middle School band.
The city had not posted a 2026 schedule as of Saturday morning, so visitors should check for updates before planning around specific times.
