Fourth Quarter Surge Seals the Result
The decisive shift in the contest occurred in the fourth quarter at Folsom Field, where the Texas Tech Red Raiders outscored the home Colorado Buffaloes 17-0 to secure a 29-7 victory. This dominant final period capped a performance defined by defensive pressure and offensive execution, extending Texas Tech's season to 5-0 while dropping Colorado to 2-3.
The Red Raiders' ability to stop the run and disrupt the passing game was evident throughout, but it was the final stretch that firmly closed the door on any potential comeback for the Buffaloes.
Early Lead and Midgame Control
Colorado established an early lead in the first quarter, with quarterback Isaac Wilson finding Joseph Williams for an eight-yard touchdown pass. The Buffaloes built a 7-0 advantage before the Red Raiders responded. Stone Harrington kicked a 52-yard field goal to make it 7-3 at the end of the first period.
The second quarter was a defensive stand-off, with neither team scoring, leaving Colorado up 7-3 at halftime. In the third quarter, Texas Tech began to gain momentum. Harrington added a 27-yard field goal, and later, Will Hammond connected with Terrance Carter Jr. on an 11-yard touchdown pass.
Although the two-point conversion failed, the play gave Texas Tech a 12-7 lead entering the final period.
