Urena Dominates on the Mound
Walbert Urena delivered a masterful performance on the mound, pitching six innings of scoreless baseball to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 7-0 victory over the Texas Rangers. Urena (8-8) allowed just two hits and walked two batters while striking out five, setting the tone for a complete team effort.
He was supported by a bullpen that kept the Rangers’ offense quiet throughout the remainder of the game.
Jose Fermin, Tayler Saucedo, and Sammy Peralta each pitched one inning of scoreless relief. Fermin recorded one hit and one strikeout, while Saucedo faced the minimum in his frame despite allowing two hits. Sammy Peralta closed out the game with two strikeouts in his outing, preserving the shutout.
Angels Offense Awakens in the Fifth
The Angels’ offense broke through in the second inning against Texas starter Jacob deGrom. With one out, Frazier singled to left field, allowing Guzman to score. Later in the inning, Trout singled to right, bringing Frazier home to make it 2-0. However, the Rangers’ pitching staff managed to hold the lead until the fifth inning, when the Angels erupted for five runs.
Guzman reached on an infield single to the pitcher, scoring Trout. Lowe then singled to right, driving in Grissom and Schanuel. Siri grounded into a fielder’s choice, but Guzman scored to extend the lead to 6-0. In the seventh inning, Siri singled to right, allowing Ballesteros to score, finalizing the 7-0 margin.
