Ketel Marte’s Offensive Surge
Ketel Marte was the catalyst for the Arizona Diamondbacks, delivering a multi-hit performance that shifted the momentum early in the contest. The Diamondbacks secured a decisive 9-1 victory over the Texas Rangers at Chase Field on Saturday, fueled by Marte’s timely hitting and a dominant offensive showing in the middle innings.
Marte recorded two doubles during the game, driving in three runs and setting the stage for Arizona’s offense to break open the contest. His contributions included scoring two runs in the fifth inning and adding another in the sixth, providing the spark needed to pull away from Texas.
Scoring Plays Define the Game
The action intensified in the fifth inning when both teams traded runs. The Rangers took an early 1-0 lead on a double by Pederson that scored Burger. Arizona quickly answered with a run of their own via Vargas, tying the game at 1-1.
However, Marte’s double to left center followed immediately, bringing home Vargas and Waldschmidt to give Arizona a 3-1 advantage. Moreno added another run with a single to center, extending the lead to 4-1.
The sixth inning proved fatal for Texas as Arizona exploded for five runs. Marte doubled again, scoring Waldschmidt to make it 5-1. Moreno singled once more to bring Marte home for a 6-1 lead.
The inning concluded with back-to-back home runs: Carroll cleared the left-center fence for a two-run shot that made it 8-1, and Arenado homered to left field to cap the rally at 9-1.
