Burger’s Offensive Surge
Jake Burger delivered the decisive blows in the Rangers’ 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday. Burger accounted for three of Texas’s five runs, launching a two-run home run in the fourth inning and adding a run-scoring single in the sixth. His performance proved critical in a game that remained tight through the middle innings before Texas pulled away late.
Burger’s power display began in the fourth inning. With the score tied 1-1, he connected on a 362-foot home run to right field. The blast gave the Rangers a 3-1 lead and included a run scored by Duran.
Burger added to his night in the sixth inning by singling to center field, which drove in Nimmo. He advanced to second base on the play, setting up the next scoring event.
Mariners Respond and Rangers Hold On
Seattle kept the game competitive with a two-run rally in the fifth inning. Canzone doubled to center field, allowing Arozarena and Emerson to score, tying the game at 3-3. The Mariners took a 4-3 lead in the sixth when Burger’s single was followed by a sacrifice bunt from Lopez that scored Carter, making it 5-3 for Texas.
However, Seattle managed to cut the deficit to 5-4 when Emerson scored on a wild pitch by Jacob Latz in the ninth inning.
The Rangers’ bullpen secured the win despite some late tension. Pitching lines showed that Bryce Miller (4-5) took the loss for Seattle, allowing five earned runs over 5.1 innings. He was relieved by Eduard Bazardo and Michael Rucker, who combined to shut down the Rangers' offense for two scoreless innings.
