Duran decides it in the ninth
Duran hit a ground-rule double in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Burger, giving the Texas Rangers a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
The decisive hit came after San Francisco tied the game in the top of the ninth. Duran drove in four runs on three scoring plays: a first-inning single, an eighth-inning double and the ninth-inning ground-rule double.
Early runs and late swings
Texas took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Nimmo doubled to right, scoring Pederson and sending Seager to third. Duran followed with a single to right, bringing in Seager and moving Nimmo to third.
San Francisco pulled even in the top of the seventh when Basabe homered to left, a 377-foot shot that scored Gilbert. It was the only home run of the game.
The Rangers moved back in front in the bottom of the eighth. Duran doubled to right, scoring Langford and Seager and sending Nimmo to third for a 4-2 lead.
San Francisco tied it 4-4 in the top of the ninth on Eldridge's single to right, which scored Gilbert and McCray. Texas answered in the bottom half on Duran's ground-rule double.
