Baylor University has announced that Gao Duanrui will join its women's tennis team for the 2026-27 season. Head coach Joey Scrivano praised Duanrui's strong work ethic, mental resilience, and commitment to growth.
Duanrui, who comes from Tianjin, China, has reached career-high rankings of No. 1,186 in singles and No. 1,435 in doubles on the WTA tour. Throughout her career, she has recorded 52 singles wins, with significant victories at the M15 Tianjin in 2026 and the W15 tournaments in Luan and Maanshan in 2025.
In doubles, she has made it to the quarterfinals five times, including at the W15 Tianjin in 2026 and three times at the W15 Luan in 2025, along with another quarterfinal appearance at the W15 Maanshan in 2025.
The Baylor women's tennis team wrapped up the 2025 season with a ranking of No. 34 in the ITA Year-End team standings, achieving their 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their 19th trip to the second round. The season featured four players selected for All-Big 12 honors, three victories against ranked opponents, and two athletes qualifying for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
