Quarterback DJ Lagway has made the move to Baylor after a challenging year at the University of Florida. Lagway, who was considered one of the top prospects in his class, entered Florida with high hopes as the successor to Graham Mertz.

After Mertz's injury during the season's sixth game, Lagway took over as the starting quarterback and guided the Gators to a 5-1 record in the last half of the season, achieving notable wins against ranked opponents.

However, Lagway's second season did not go as planned. He dealt with injuries and faced significant setbacks, including a surprising loss to South Florida, which marked Florida's first defeat against the Bulls. A particularly tough game against LSU, where he threw five interceptions, contributed to the Gators finishing with a disappointing 4-8 record, ultimately leading to the dismissal of head coach Billy Napier.

Looking for a fresh start, Lagway entered the Transfer Portal and has now joined Baylor, where he will play under head coach Dave Aranda. Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow remarked that Lagway needed a new setting to succeed and expressed optimism that this change would benefit him.

Lagway's debut as a Bear is scheduled against Auburn, a significant game for both him and Coach Aranda as they look to rebound from last season's struggles. This matchup is set to occur at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, beginning at 3:30 PM (ET) on ABC.
