The Houston Texans have made roster changes following injuries from their preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. Quarterback Graham Mertz has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list after an MRI confirmed a season-ending knee injury. Rookie running back Joshua Pitsenberger has also been placed on injured reserve due to an ankle injury sustained near the end of the game.

Mertz's injury occurred shortly before halftime, adding to the Texans' challenges as they were already managing several injuries prior to the matchup. Other players on the injury report include Ja'Marcus Ingram (shoulder), Collin Wright (soft tissue strain), and Jake Hansen (ankle). Despite these issues, the Texans have largely maintained their starting lineup, with the exception of linebacker E.J.

Speed, who suffered an injury during offseason training.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans and his team will closely assess their options as they prepare for further roster changes throughout training camp. The Texans are focused on ensuring depth and performance as they progress through the preseason, with more updates on roster moves expected as they evaluate the impact of these injuries on upcoming games.
