Dare Ogunbowale is returning to the Houston Texans’ 53-man roster before Week 4, giving the team four running backs as it prepares to host the Dallas Cowboys. The move follows a short stay with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Ogunbowale played for Houston from 2022 through 2025 and appeared in more than 60 games. He primarily contributed on special teams, recording 91 carries for 295 yards and three touchdowns. He was also a team captain last season and logged more than 1,000 special-teams snaps across his four seasons with the Texans.
David Montgomery and Woody Marks are expected to receive most of Houston’s offensive work at running back. British Brooks may still be listed ahead of Ogunbowale in the weekly rotation, so the veteran is not expected to immediately take a major offensive role. The reason for the signing was not clear.
Sports Illustrated reported it could provide injury insurance or an experienced special-teams and leadership option, with Week 4 injury information not expected until after Wednesday’s practice. Head coach DeMeco Ryans has repeatedly praised Ogunbowale, according to the report.
