The Texans placed linebacker Jake Hummel on injured reserve Saturday, making him unavailable for at least four games before he can be considered for a return to the active roster.
Hummel suffered the groin injury during Houston's Week 1 loss to the Bills and has not practiced since. The roster move was reported by CBS Sports, which cited Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
Jake Hansen is expected to remain a starting linebacker while Hummel is out, alongside Azeez Al-Shaair and Aiden Fisher. Hummel's placement on injured reserve does not set a return date beyond the requirement that he miss at least four games before consideration for the active roster.
