The Houston Texans have secured wide receiver Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots in a trade. Boutte confirmed the deal via social media prior to an official announcement from either team. The Texans reportedly sent safety Jaylen Reed and a seventh-round draft pick for 2028 to New England in exchange for Boutte.
This trade follows the injury of Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. Higgins was anticipated to play a significant role alongside star receiver Nico Collins and had a notable rookie season, recording 41 receptions for 525 yards and six touchdowns.
Kayshon Boutte, selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, had a strong performance last year with 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns. The Patriots had an excess of wide receivers after acquiring A.J. Brown in June and signing Romeo Doubs to a substantial contract earlier this year.
In addition to Boutte, the Texans also added veteran receivers Zay Jones and Sterling Shepard over the weekend as they seek to address the gap left by Higgins' injury. The specifics of the Texans' plans for the upcoming season remain unclear.
