Texas Christian University (TCU) has reinstated media credentials for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, resolving a conflict that arose after the newspaper reported on a locker room altercation involving former TCU safety Jacob Fields and wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma.

The incident occurred on August 13, resulting in Fields' dismissal from the team and his arrest for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Ezukanma sustained serious injuries, including a brain bleed and concussion, requiring a three-day hospitalization. TCU noted that both parties engaged in "productive discussions" to move forward after the Star-Telegram's credentials were initially revoked.

The decision to revoke credentials had attracted attention, particularly as more details about the incident emerged. The newspaper had cited an unnamed source suggesting Fields was targeted by teammates, which was later amended to eliminate implications of bullying. Athletic director Mike Buddie expressed concerns about the narrative created by the reporting, which led to threats against Fields and his family.

Following the revocation, the Star-Telegram was barred from covering TCU athletic events, including the season opener against North Carolina in Dublin, although their reporter still covered the game without official credentials.

With the restoration of credentials, TCU aims to redirect focus back to the football season, although the legal matters surrounding Fields and Ezukanma's health remain unresolved.
