SMU announced that Oziyah Sellers, a fifth-year guard, has enrolled at the school and is practicing with its men’s basketball team. His eligibility status is still under review, and the school did not announce when a decision is expected.
Sellers started 36 games for St. John’s during the 2025-26 season, averaging 10.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. The Red Storm went 30-7 and captured the Big East championship. Before that, Sellers started every game for Stanford in 2024-25 and averaged 13.7 points per game in the ACC.
He spent his first two college seasons at USC, where SMU coach Andy Enfield was his coach. Sellers has made 37.8% of his career three-point attempts, including a 42.9% mark as a USC sophomore, and has converted 86.9% of his free throws.
The move gives SMU another player as the program begins its third season under Enfield and prepares for 2026-27 with a transfer class ranked No. 21 nationally by On3.
