Wide receiver Kayshon Boutte held a press conference to discuss his recent trade from the New England Patriots to the Houston Texans. This event occurred one week after the trade, where Boutte shared his thoughts on the Texans and the circumstances surrounding his exit from New England.
Boutte had sought a trade during the offseason, expressing a desire for a more significant role as a primary reason for his decision. The addition of two new players, Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown, notably affected his standing on the Patriots. Doubs signed a four-year deal worth $68 million, while Brown was brought in via a trade that involved first- and fifth-round draft picks.
These changes shifted the structure of the Patriots' wide receiver lineup, resulting in Boutte being placed as the fourth receiver in training camp, behind Doubs, Brown, and DeMario Douglas.
Although Boutte had a successful 2024 season with 42 catches for 719 yards and seven touchdowns, he faced the potential of not being active on game days, a point mentioned by head coach Mike Vrabel following the preseason finale.
Boutte remarked that he did not interpret Vrabel's comments negatively and preferred to concentrate on his future with the Texans, without elaborating on his role with the new team.
