Houston Texans Finalize Roster with Major Changes Before Season Opener

The Houston Texans have made significant roster adjustments in anticipation of their Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills on September 13. A total of 22 players have been waived, including prominent figures like wide receiver Zay Jones and quarterback Brett Rypien.

Among those released are defensive tackle Dominic Bailey from Tennessee and wide receiver Lewis Bond from Boston College. Linebacker Caleb Johnson and tight end Brevin Jordan, both with notable league experience, were also let go. Additionally, the Texans released cornerback Bryce Hall and safety George Odum.

In a trade move, center/guard Jarrett Patterson has been sent to the San Francisco 49ers, while tackle Nathan Thomas has been acquired from the Dallas Cowboys. The Texans have placed several players on the Reserve/Injured list, including wide receiver Tank Dell and safety Ja'Marcus Ingram, both designated for return, along with defensive end Ali Gaye. Speed has been moved to the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

These changes come as the Texans gear up for their season opener at Reliant Stadium against the Buffalo Bills. Further updates on the roster and potential additional moves remain unclear.
