The University of Houston Football program has revealed that Shadre Hurst, an offensive guard, has been named to the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This announcement was made public on Tuesday, reflecting Hurst's outstanding performance and contributions to the team.

Earlier this month, Hurst also appeared on the Preseason Watch Lists for the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy. He has a connection with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi from their previous time at Tulane, where Hurst earned All-American recognition and All-AAC honors in The American Conference.

Hurst has shown remarkable skills on the field, achieving an 80.0 pass block grade in 2023, which places him second among active FBS offensive linemen. He has allowed just one sack over more than 1,200 passing snaps, demonstrating his reliability and effectiveness.

In 2025, he was acknowledged as the highest graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and ranked sixth nationally for guards by Pro Football Focus (PFF). During his time at Tulane, he played a crucial role in winning three conference titles from 2022 to 2025, maintaining an impressive record of only one sack allowed throughout four seasons.

The Cougars are scheduled to kick off their new college football season on September 5, hosting Oregon State at TDECU Stadium, with the game starting at 11 a.m.
