The Houston Cougars have strengthened their defensive lineup by signing Myles Rowser, a safety who previously played for the Arizona State Sun Devils. This move comes in light of new NCAA eligibility rules that grant players from the class of 2022, who did not redshirt or enter into a professional NFL contract, an additional season of eligibility.
Rowser's collegiate experience includes playing for Campbell, New Mexico State, and Arizona State, where he did not redshirt and participated in nine games during his freshman year. He attended a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks but did not secure a professional contract.
Over his career, Rowser has accumulated 295 total tackles, with notable statistics including 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, and 16 passes defended. His performance during the 2025 season at Arizona State, where he recorded a career-high 84 tackles, earned him a spot on the All-Big 12 Third Team.
The Cougars already have a solid safety group, featuring veterans Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who had 71 and 48 tackles respectively last season. They also recently added Tulane safety Javion White, who contributed 50 tackles last year. Rowser's addition may lead to adjustments in the lineup, potentially moving one of the safeties to the nickel corner position.
With this enhanced depth, the Cougars are poised to be competitive in the Big 12.
