North Texas has officially announced Tayven Jackson as their starting quarterback for the upcoming football season. This decision comes ahead of their first regular season game against Indiana University, ranked No. 6, on September 5 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.
Jackson, a native of Greenwood, Indiana, previously played for Indiana University for two seasons from 2023 to 2024, making him familiar with the Hoosiers. His high school career at Center Grove High School was marked by notable achievements.
After a stint with the Tennessee football program in 2022, he transferred to the University of Central Florida (UCF) for the 2025 season, where he recorded a career-high of 2,151 passing yards, along with 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
Additionally, Jackson's ties to IU include his brother, Trayce Jackson-Davis, a former IU basketball player, who has expressed his plans to attend the game in support of Tayven. This matchup also signifies IU's first game since celebrating their national championship win in January.
