Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway is currently listed as day-to-day following an ankle injury, according to head coach Dave Aranda. The team's decision about Lagway's participation in the upcoming game against Prairie View A&M on Saturday will be influenced by his practice performance this week.

In his debut with Baylor, Lagway threw for 333 yards, completing 27 of 54 passes, and recorded two touchdowns along with one interception in a close 17-16 loss to Auburn. The Bears missed a vital two-point conversion attempt at the end of the match, which played a role in their defeat.

Auburn head coach Alex Golesh commended Lagway's determination, highlighting his ability to keep playing despite the injury. Golesh stated, "If you’ve got any question on how tough that kid is, he got banged up early, and that is a tough, tough football player."

Lagway, who moved to Baylor after spending two seasons at the Florida Gators, was a highly touted recruit ranked No. 3 in his class. He previously started for Florida under head coach Billy Napier but entered the transfer portal after Napier's exit.

During his time at Florida, Lagway recorded 2,264 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions last season, while the Gators finished with a 4-8 record.

Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow remarked on Lagway's need for a fresh start, believing he would perform better at Baylor, stating, "I think he’ll play with a lot more joy, and I think when he does that, I think he’ll have an opportunity to play to the best of his ability."

Additional information regarding Lagway's injury and his status for the upcoming game has yet to be released.
