Houston Texans receiver Nico Collins may be back for the team’s Week 4 meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported. Collins will miss Houston’s Week 3 game with a hamstring injury, but Schefter said his prospects of returning against Dallas are decent.
Collins has appeared in one game this season, Houston’s Week 1 defeat against the Buffalo Bills. He finished that game with seven receptions, 75 yards and a touchdown. Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has guided Houston to the playoffs, and the team reached the postseason last year before being eliminated by the New England Patriots.
Dallas has its own secondary concerns. Cornerback Cobie Durant and safeties Malik Hooker and P.J. Locke will not all be available for the Cowboys’ Week 3 game against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil.
Their status for the Texans matchup remains undetermined. Dallas is currently using DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel at cornerback and ranks 17th in pass defense, giving up 218 yards per game. Caleb Downs has also joined the secondary and stepped up, although the source said improvement is still needed.
The source also raised a possible Cowboys trade for Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., but no completed deal was reported.
