The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for multiple defensive absences after injuries during their first three regular-season games. Jonathan Bullard is expected to miss three to five weeks with a calf injury, while safety Jalen Thompson could be sidelined for at least four weeks because of a hamstring problem. Bullard also missed most of training camp after an earlier injury.
Dallas' loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Rio produced another concern, with cornerback Shavon Revel sustaining knee and ankle injuries. Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday that Revel's recovery was going well and that he might take part in practice this week. The team has not confirmed whether he will play against Houston in Week 4.
DeMarvion Overshown, who has been out for two games with a hamstring injury, may also begin practicing this week.
Thompson could be placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, joining safety P.J. Locke, according to the report. Cobie Durant is not expected to travel to South Texas while recovering from a hamstring injury.
Malik Hooker could require more time after fracturing his forearm in the season opener. Dallas has worked out several players, including former safety Juanyeh Thomas, as first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker manages a depleted safety group before facing the Texans, who remain winless.
