The Dallas Cowboys have signed Von Miller to a one-year contract, adding him to their revamped defense. This move comes as the team introduces approximately six new starters and a new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker. Miller, who recorded nine sacks in 2025 with the Washington Commanders, is expected to leverage his extensive experience in Dallas.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed confidence in Miller's capabilities, highlighting his sharp football intellect and quick burst of speed. Schottenheimer mentioned that while Miller may not be on the field for every play, his presence is anticipated to elevate the team's defensive performance.
"He understands the game; the football intellect is top tier," Schottenheimer stated, noting Miller's expertise in angles and his diverse skill set.
In the 2025 season, Miller played in 17 games for the Commanders, starting three and participating in 420 snaps, which represented 37 percent of the team's defensive plays. It is expected that he will take on a similar role in Dallas, likely entering during critical situations such as third downs.
Miller's impressive career includes being the second overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and winning two Super Bowl titles, along with holding the record for the most sacks among active players, totaling 138.5. He is close to entering the top 10 all-time with just 3.5 more sacks this season.
