TCU fell to Central Florida, 21-13, in Orlando and is now 2-2 overall and 0-2 against Power Four teams. The loss opened Big 12 play for both programs. TCU had 11 penalties totaling 86 yards, gave up two more turnovers than UCF and produced 1.2 yards per rushing attempt.
The result altered plans for the Oct. 3 home meeting with No. 9 BYU. TCU had hoped to reach 4-0 and bring ESPN’s “College GameDay” to Fort Worth, but the Horned Frogs have scored an average of 11.5 points through the season’s first month.
Craig, an offseason transfer from Harvard, is still listed above sophomore Adam Schobel, who did not appear as a freshman in 2025 and has attempted one pass this season. In games against North Carolina and UCF, Craig went 45-for-72 for 485 yards, two interceptions and no touchdown passes. He also had 10 rushing attempts for minus-38 yards, with sacks included in college rushing statistics.
The report said receivers have provided limited help, while Craig has struggled outside the pocket. Craig signed for more money than Schobel, creating financial and personnel considerations. TCU could stay with Craig against BYU, or give Schobel his first start at Baylor on Oct. 17 after the bye week.
Coach Sonny Dykes previously turned to Max Duggan in 2022 and Josh Hoover in 2023 after injuries to Chandler Morris.
