Texas Tech University has finalized its non-conference football schedule for the 2030 season by agreeing to host Texas State. The Red Raiders will welcome the Bobcats to their home field on September 14, 2030, according to a contract obtained via an open-records request and reported by FBSchedules.com. As part of this arrangement, Texas Tech must pay Texas State a guarantee of $1.2 million.
This addition rounds out the team's non-conference slate for that year. The season begins with a trip to Las Vegas on August 31 to play Arkansas. One week before facing Texas State, the Red Raiders will host Fresno State at home.
Despite securing the 2030 opponent, the program still needs to fill one non-conference slot for 2027, 2028, and 2029. These vacancies follow several recent contract changes. Mississippi State canceled a two-game series planned for 2028 and 2029 without penalty after an SEC scheduling model shift.
North Carolina State used a buyout option for a 2027 game in Lubbock, and Texas Tech bought out a 2027 road game against North Texas.
The university currently has two non-conference home games set for each of the years 2027 through 2029. Financial guarantees for these matchups range from $300,000 to $1 million based on the opponent and location. Other schedule adjustments include moving a home game against Arkansas to 2034 after both schools agreed to play in the Vegas Kickoff Classic.
