Sherman is about 9 miles southwest of Denison.

The area has recorded 54 days of 100-degree temperatures this year, including nine in September. Wednesday's reading left September one day behind its monthly record of 10 such days.

Rain coverage is forecast to reach 60% across Texoma Thursday, with the best opportunity from the afternoon into early evening, meteorologist Michael Bohling said. Most locations are expected to receive less than 0.5 inch, although isolated areas could get more than 1 inch if heavier rain develops. Highs are forecast to stay in the 90s Thursday, before triple-digit heat returns Friday.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the 90s next week, but the forecast indicates they will likely remain above average for several more weeks. Yahoo.com reported the forecast.
