Maggie, a dog found injured in a cage beside a Denison road Saturday, is recovering in foster care with help from the Denison Animal Welfare Group.
According to KXII, the people who found her took her to an emergency veterinary clinic, which contacted DAWG. President Stephanie Phillips said Maggie had puncture wounds around her head and neck and needed medication and wound treatment under anesthesia.
DAWG kennel technician Nichole Thornock brought Maggie home to foster her. Thornock told KXII that Maggie remains wary of people but has begun wagging her tail. The cause of her injuries has not been established.
DAWG is seeking donations, volunteers and foster homes. KXII reported that the organization’s veterinary bills exceed $10,000, without specifying how much was for Maggie.
