The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Grayson County will host the second annual Grayson County Hay Show from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event takes place at the Mayor’s Arena, located within the Texoma Exposition and Livestock Show Grounds at 1022 RC Vaughn Rd in Denison.
Admission is set at $20 per person. That fee covers dinner, presentations, contests, and access to a tradeshow. D. Chad Cummings, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources, stated that the event aims to recognize the efforts of local hay producers while fostering healthy competition.
"The goal of the Grayson County Hay Show is to highlight the hay producers’ hard work," Cummings said. "In addition, we’ll have some healthy competition, contest awards, good food, and discuss ways to improve your hay forage quality for next year."
Producers interested in participating in the hay quality contest can submit samples at the Grayson County Courthouse Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Office. The office is located at 100 W Houston St., Sherman, TX, in office space A-G-1. Submissions are accepted between August 17 and August 31, 2026.
The office accepts samples during two daily windows: from 8:00 a.m. to noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Each producer is limited to one sample. The contest is open to hay producers from Cooke County and Grayson County in Texas, as well as Bryan County in Oklahoma.
The extension service will conduct quality analysis on the samples at no cost. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will handle shipping the samples for testing and will provide the producer with an interpretation of the results during the event.
