Murakami Dominates Offense
Gavin Lux Murakami delivered a career-defining performance, hitting two home runs and driving in six runs to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 12-3 victory over the Houston Astros. The slugger’s power display was the centerpiece of an offensive explosion that left the Astros’ pitching staff overwhelmed at Rate Field on Sunday.
Murakami opened the scoring in the first inning with a 385-foot home run to left field that also brought Zach Antonacci home, giving Chicago an early 2-1 advantage. He added another solo shot in the eighth inning, a 398-foot blast to right center, extending the lead to 12-3. His eight-run day included multiple key hits, including a seventh-inning single that drove in two more runs.
White Sox Attack Continues
The White Sox built their lead through a series of timely hits and home runs. Michael Peña contributed significantly with two home runs, including a 393-foot shot to left in the first inning and a 394-foot homer to right center in the third.
Yordan Alvarez also found the plate with a 393-foot home run to left in the sixth inning, scoring Antonacci for a 5-3 lead.
The seventh inning proved decisive for Chicago. After Meidroth’s 382-foot home run to left center made it 6-3, Murakami’s single drove in two more runs. Benintendi’s single to left then scored Murakami, pushing the score to 9-3. The inning ended with Perez’s 376-foot home run to left, scoring Meidroth for an 11-3 lead.
