Dominant Starting Performance
Hunter Brown delivered a standout outing for the Houston Astros, striking out 10 batters while allowing just one earned run in 6.2 innings of work. His ability to neutralize the New York Mets lineup provided the foundation for Houston’s 3-1 victory at Citi Field on Friday.
Brown’s performance included five hits allowed and one walk, but his command kept the Mets off balance for most of the night. The win improved his record to 4-3 on the season, while the loss dropped Christian Scott to 4-4.

The game remained tight until the sixth inning, where Houston seized control with a two-run rally. Jose Altuve reached base and eventually scored on a single by Yordan Alvarez that also drove in Kyle Tucker, giving the Astros a 2-1 lead.
Shortly after, Alvarez singled to right field, bringing Altuve home from third base to extend the lead to 3-1. The Mets were unable to respond, as their offense had struggled throughout the game against Brown’s pitching.
Earlier in the fourth inning, the Mets had taken a 1-0 lead when Benge doubled to center field, allowing Lindor to score. However, that advantage was short-lived as Houston’s offense woke up in the middle frames.
