The National Weather Service's updated Tuesday afternoon alert includes Grayson County and names Denison among the affected cities. Forecasters expect widespread totals of 2 to 4 inches across the watch area, with 4 to 6 inches possible in localized pockets.
For residents, the distinction between a watch and a warning matters. The current product describes conditions that could produce flooding. It does not establish that a particular Denison street is flooded, and it is not a citywide evacuation order.
Denison's emergency-notification guidance recommends NOAA weather radios with county-specific programming; the city's page lists Grayson County's code as 048181. It also describes geographically targeted Wireless Emergency Alerts and CodeRED notifications.
Outdoor sirens are one part of the city's warning system, intended for people outside. Residents should have a way to receive updated weather information indoors as well.
